IMBA SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM - YEAR 2005
(General Information)
The International MBA (IMBA) Program
As part of a collaboration that began in 1996, the MIT Sloan School of Management in USA has been working with Tsinghua and Fudan Universities in PRC to develop faculty, curriculum requirements and teaching media for an IMBA Program at each Institution. This program was extended to Lingnan (University) College, Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou in 1999. The purpose of the Program is to provide an innovative global management education opportunity to the students in China to broaden their horizon with international business practice and exposure in global market.
Objective of the IMBA Summer Internship
To assist the IMBA students with their exposure to the international markets, some renowned multinational organizations in Hong Kong, China and Asia Pacific countries offer IMBA students with the opportunity to work on projects or researches in their Companies during the summer break, enhancing their business expertise and gaining practical experience. At the same time, it gives the Sponsoring Companies an opportunity to identify potential candidates for recruitment in future.
Administration
Esquel Enterprises Ltd. (here below refers as EEL) will act as the focal point of communication to work in different aspects to support the Internship Program held in Hong Kong such as coordination between the 3 universities and the Sponsoring Companies, organization of activities for the Summer Interns, accommodation and logistic arrangement for the 8-week summer internship period. For outside Hong Kong territories, co-ordinations, communications, travel and administration supports will be fallen to the responsibilities of the Sponsoring Companies who offer the placement.
Application of Entry Visa to Hong Kong
Esquel Enterprises Ltd. and the University of Hong Kong will help the visa application process for the students who take up the summer internship in Hong Kong. Locations other than Hong Kong, Sponsoring Companies require to offer assistance in applying the entry/work visas for particular students.
Period of Summer Internship
Approximately 8 weeks from early July to end of August 2005.
Cost
The cost for student to take the internship program in Hong Kong which covers traveling expenses between PRC and HK, visa application, accommodation, living allowance of HK$5,000/month will be borne by Sponsoring Companies.
For other locations, Sponsoring Companies are responsible for all the travel and accommodation expenses plus the mandatory allowance of HK$5,000 or equivalent to local currency per month to each student. Other add-on terms of allowance are negotiable and are subject to confirmation between the student and the Sponsoring Company.
